Like I gave her a note while she was getting stuff out of her locker on a Friday afternoon and asked her not to open it until she got home. Needless to say she opened it on her way out and within seconds I had every one of her friends accosting me about it, some claiming she said yes and others claiming she said no. I never really did find out anything from her; it all came to me as hearsay. I then kept being reminded about that fateful day for several more years, with people shouting at me during gym class, while I was doing my pull-ups in an effort to win a National Physical Fitness Award (the Presidential was a little out of my league) - "Ruvym, do it for Jamie." Point being, as far as I'm concerned, I have an outstanding date request that's still pending.

Really, Ruvym? like "hey Jamie, wanna go out because we actually know one another" or like... "wouldn't it have been great if I had known her in sixth grade and asked her out..." either way... nice.

I was into Jamie's desire to be 'like everybody else' it seemed genuine...until she bumped up to first class. (but who can blame her?...economy sucks!) But honestly, she seemed like she has a good sense of her roots. Maybe I'll bother to watch Entourage now.

I feel it's always kind of surreal to see celebrities - even Jewish ones - give shoutouts to the kinds of initiatives that I connect with every day. Good surreal, but surreal nonetheless.

Of course, I always thought there should be a celebrity Taglit-Birthright trip. http://estherkustanowitz.typepad.com/myurbankvetch2005/2007/08/send-seth-rogen.html
